If clean energy communications is your passion, then this is the role for you. This consultancy takes an integrated approach on advising nuclear clients, low carbon industries and new technology players and you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most interesting and exciting international energy firms shaping the future of the low carbon sector. Their plan is to build a complete low energy profile and they have ambitious growth plans. They are now looking for a committed and skilled Director to take the helm, lead the team and build out this already successful practice.

The Company

This corporate communications and government relations consultancy is based in smart offices in London. They are looking for a government and communications specialists who is well connected in the clean energy sector and can help shape the future of energy comms in the UK. This team focuses on corporate communications and government relations for low carbon companies including wind farms, electric vehicles and developments of zero subsidy renewables to name just a few. The team is highly motivated and engaged, and whilst they deal with serious issues they make sure they don’t take themselves too seriously along the way. Everyone gets on and pulls their weight and the calibre of the people is impressive.

The Role

Key challenges and opportunities in this Head of Clean Energy role:

  • Be an operational leader with financially significant and strategic accounts across the energy practice and benefit from working in one of the UK’s most respected energy communications teams
  • Use your political understanding of current events and the energy landscape to provide a context for clients
  • Identify, respond to and lead new business pitches and opportunities
  • Grow accounts by understanding client needs and recognising and maximizing opportunities to provide a wider range of strategic services
  • Be a people focussed manager by leading the coaching and professional development of the team and embedding wider skills to the rest of the business through training and mentoring
  • Deliver counsel in a confident and persuasive manner, building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Benefit from first-rate, dedicated training that enables you to take control of your career and become an expert in your field and a trusted advisor to clients

The Person

Key attributes and experience for this Head of Clean Energy role:

  • Solid government and corporate comms agency experience working at Partner/Director/MD level. Ready to lead a sizeable team, or if you are working in-house now, you will have very recent agency experience and be able to demonstrate a strong network of contacts
  • You need to be well-networked in the clean energy space to impress with a great breadth of knowledge
  • A new business builder and be able to show evidence of this
  • You will have creative corporate communications experience alongside government relations expertise and a strong grasp of current affairs
  • A digital know-how would be beneficial as they are driving their digital abilities across the business
  • A good people manager able to support, challenge and inspire the team
