Comms and Engagement Manager – Leading FMCG Manufacturer in Derby

A leading FMCG manufacturer based in Derby is looking for a confident Comms and Engagement Manager to support senior management in engaging its employees and other stakeholders. The role will report into senior management and you will work closely with them on a day-to-day basis. The role is 75% internal communications and 25% external comms / stakeholder management. Due to the pandemic the role will initially have a strong focus on delivering health and safety information to the company’s factory employees. You must be empathetic towards the needs of factory employees and be able to write internal comms content in respectful tones. The role would be suitable for a comms practitioner with at least some internal comms experience, ideally in an operations heavy industry (such as manufacturing). Ideally you will be based within an hour commute to Derby as you will mostly work at the Company’s head office.

The Role

Key challenges and opportunities in this Comms and Engagement Manager role:

  • Working closely with senior management to develop content and messaging to help them communicate with front-line workers (such as factory employees)
  • Write video scripts for monthly management briefing videos and co-ordinate the production
  • Update the UK intranet and liaise with the global intranet team to source content
  • Working closely with senior management to shape the content, messaging and tone for major events which happen throughout the year, including both internal and external events
  • Develop material to promote corporate social responsibility initiatives both internally and externally

The Person

Key attributes and experience for this Comms and Engagement Manager role:

  • If you are working in a PR and marketing agency, it’s likely that you are working at Account Director or Associate Director level or perhaps you are working in-house in a Comms Manager or Internal Comms Manager role now
  • You should have at least some internal comms experience, ideally in an operations heavy industry (e.g. manufacturing)
  • You will need to be a self-starter and be able to work independently as you will be leading a range of comms initiatives
  • You should be confident working closely with the senior management team while being empathetic towards the needs of front-line workers
  • You must be able to digest complex messages and translate it into engaging content
  • It is ideal that you have experience using different social media platforms
