Our Platinum Service Case Study

The Search Brief

This Asset Management firm had over £200 billion in assets and employs over 1,000 staff worldwide. They engaged The Works Search to undertake our Platinum Service which is our premium executive search service. They were looking to fill the newly created role of Head of Public Relations and Thought Leadership, reporting into the Global Head of Marketing and External Relations.

Objectives and Aims

The assignment was to source a senior communications professional who we rated in the top 5% of the industry with experience in journalism and in-depth knowledge of asset management. They also need to be adept at crisis management, have strong team management expertise and a thought-leadership track record.

We faced the challenge of sourcing candidates with all the different facets rolled into one person and getting just the right level of expertise and cultural fit, which was important to our client.

We advised on the most appropriate salary and committed to sourcing 5 candidates for the campaign, conducting interviews, taking 2 character references per candidate and for 1st stage interviews to take place within only 3 weeks.

We had our work cut out. We put together a plan and used our extensive network and industry connections to identify a selection of high calibre professionals who were met by our MD and carefully assessed.

The Outcome

We short-listed 6 comms professionals for the short-list in just 3 weeks, 1 more candidate than requested as we aim to please. The Global Head of Marketing and External Relations commented, ‘She had never seen such an impressive selection of high calibre candidates who are exact for the brief’. She was ‘delighted’ with the candidates and the smooth process.

Once the Head of PR & Thought Leadership was in place we asked him for a testimonial – ‘If I would use one word to describe Sarah, it’s thorough. Nothing is left to chance. I would recommend her without hesitation.’
